What is Web 2.0?

The term Web 2.0 is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, user-centered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web (WWW). The term Web 2.0 refers to cumulative changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the Web. The Web 2.0 is meant to be collaborative medium, a place where we could all meet and read and write, which makes it perfect for the Education field.
A Web 2.0 site gives its users the free choice to interact or collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users  are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them.
Examples of Web 2.0 include:
  • Social-networking sites (Twitter, Facebook)
  • Blogs (Blogger, Wordpress)
  • Wikis (Edmodo)
  • Video-sharing sites (You tube)
  • Web applications, etc.

The authors of this site are July, Darvid and Virginia, we are students of the University of Carabobo, that attend to Education School and which majoring is English Teaching. We are currently taking a subject in the 8th semester called " Material Design for teaching English", this subject is very interesting because it teaches us how to use certain tools (technology type) in order to improve our work as teachers inside and outside the classroom.
